Miriam and Peter Webb founded E.T.I. Ltd in 1983, when they identified an opportunity in the manufacturing market for the production of digital thermometers and temperature measuring probes.  In the last four years the business has grown by 100%, giving E.T.I. Ltd. a significant increase in sales, due in part to the recent legislation appertaining to food hygiene.

The company is jointly owned by Miriam and Peter Webb (50/50 share holding).  Miriam has been our Company Secretary for almost 24 years. Her key skills are her office and organisational expertise, particularly with regard to understanding the needs of the company and its employees. Peter, the Managing Director, has worked in the temperature / electronics industry for just over 30 years.  His key skills are understanding the manufacture of temperature measuring instrumentation and sensors and the marketing of the same, and he is responsible for the overall running of the company.

E.T.I. Ltd is located in Worthing at three sites, Dominion Way, Southdownview Road and Willowbrook Road.  The company currently employs 105 people in total. The company manufactures 75% of the products it sells, the balance being sourced from overseas suppliers.

Aims and Objectives

“Electronic Temperature Instruments Ltd’s aim is to be the leading supplier and manufacturer of hand held digital thermometers and probes in the UK, offering an unrivalled selection of thermometers to both industrial and catering businesses.”

The company is in the business of producing high quality, low cost thermometers and its aim is to provide the customer with value for money, accurate instruments, manufactured to exact specifications and designed to meet customer requirements. The company aims to have the best reputation for quality of production and high standards of customer service by anticipating customers’ needs and surpassing their expectations through excellence of service and product innovation.

E.T.I. Ltd’s primary objective is to increase turnover by 5% over the next financial year, with similar increases in future years. This will be achieved by a progressive marketing strategy and increasing prices annually, where appropriate.

The company’s secondary objective is to increase production capabilities, to match demand by the introduction of additional automated machinery and equipment.
