The PDA thermometer probe combined with the Windows Mobile® temperature probe software is a powerful and easy to use way to measure and save/record temperature and associated data. The software, supplied with each temperature probe, enables the user to connect a temperature probe directly into a Windows Mobile® PDA

A choice of two thermometer probe sensor types is available, a high accuracy PTPP probe and a general purpose PTTP probe. Both probe types are supplied with a Ø3.3 x 130mm pointed, stainless steel stem and a one metre PVC lead with a serial connector. The PDA thermometer probe software automatically recognises the probe type and displays this information and each probe's unique serial number and calibration date (screenshot 5).

The PTTP probe utilises a NTC thermistor sensor and allows the user to display the temperature over the range of -20 to +120°C with a resolution of either 1 or 0.1°C/°F and an accuracy of ±0.4°C. The PTPP probe utilises a PT1000 sensor and allows the user to display the temperature over the range of -50 to +150°C with a resolution 0.1 or 0.01°C/°F/°K and an accuracy of ±0.05°C.

The PDA thermometer probe requires no batteries as the probe is powered by the hand held PDA via the connector.

FREE PDA thermometer probe software
The software has been designed to allow the user to decide which information is displayed on the PDA. The user can select whether to display the real date and time, the summary (max, min and average) and whether the operation button is to be displayed on the left or right side of the display. Additionally, the user can select between °C or °F and the resolution, i.e. the number of decimal places, 1°C, 0.1°C or 0.01°C, see fig. 2. The user can also set the sample rate (display update time), between one and ten seconds and the sample read mode, constant, acquire, on/off or save readings mode.

HACCP software for Windows Mobile
The optional ThermaPalm HACCP PDA software suite is a PC application that allows a user to select/modify the information and tasks that are displayed on their PDA. This allows quality managers and inspectors to create a structured, paperless, HACCP checklist system for employees to follow. Instructions for the execution of tasks can be tailored to the manager's requirements, by the manager themselves. Real-time and date stamping using in-built PDA functions ensure that tasks are controlled and undertaken when required, not simply left until the end of the day and completed en bloc. Using the in-built PDA alarm functions, the user can be reminded to undertake tasks at specific times of the day. The ThermaPalm HACCP software suite consists of four pieces of software; PDA application software, software to design/configure the application, a report designing software and a reminder application.
