The optional ThermaPalm HACCP PDA software suite is a PC application that allows a user to select/modify the information and tasks that are displayed on their PDA. This allows quality managers and inspectors to create a structured, paperless, HACCP checklist system for employees to follow. Instructions for the execution of tasks can be tailored to the manager's requirements, by the manager themselves. Real-time and date stamping using in-built PDA functions ensure that tasks are controlled and undertaken when required, not simply left until the end of the day and completed en bloc. Using the in-built PDA alarm functions, the user can be reminded to undertake tasks at specific times of the day. The ThermaPalm HACCP software suite consists of four pieces of software; PDA

ThermaPalm HACCP designer/configuration
This application is an icon-based designer to allow semi-custom PDA pages to be created. The icons are the building blocks of the designer, with these you can create up to three levels of PDA pages containing tasks to be performed by operators. A dialogue box allows a new company/store to be created or an existing company/store to be edited or deleted. When creating a new store it is possible to base it on an existing one, to reduce the amount of input needed and to create a consistent corporate image. When creating a new company, global company details, default value settings and a logo can be stored. When creating a new store, company defaults can be selected via a check box or individually set for each store. A number of functions can be defined in the software, these include:

• a measurement, other than temperature, with remedial actions - screenshot 4

ThermaPalm™ lab data-logging utilising PDA's
The ThermaPalm lab software is a laboratory-grade product that allows the user to produce logs of temperature readings that can be ActiveSync®ed to a PC. This will produce Excel spreadsheets on the PC of the readings - allowing easy manipulation of the data.

Once a log has been completed, a summary of the information can be viewed on a PDA, either as a graph or as a table. You can append to existing logs, providing you use the same probe, to ensure consistency between the data. The graph shows the readings, the high and low limits, any time gaps that have occurred between logs and the ability to identify any point on the graph.

The ThermaPalm lab software is capable of storing at least 100 logs with 100,000 entries in each. Temperatures can be recorded from one a second to one every four minutes. The ThermaPalm lab software records to the maximum resolution of your probe, i.e. 1°C, 0.1°C or 0.01°C. Logs can be started/stopped manually or via the following modes:
